Fall is here and I feel like I pretty much missed summer. Recording the Christmas CD has had me in a holiday cave. While everyone was at the beach, I was singing Joy To The World. But I’m not complaining, I’m so glad to be releasing the Christmas CD!
Hopefully you have seen the Big For Me video! If not, you can watch it here: It premiered on Logo this week.
OK friends, I’ll be honest, my blogging hasn’t been as consistent lately, but it’s not because I don’t have mad love for every one of you. I’ve just been knee deep in traveling and making sure that I meet the Christmas CD deadline.
So let me start with New York…I LOVE NEW YORK! A couple of the days, I played early shows (lunch time media shows) so I had the later part of the day to kick it. If you’re a musician you know that’s rare. Usually you go to a city, do press, perform and head to the next city, so this was a treat. I made it a point to just get lost in the city. That’s a difficult task since I’ve spent a lot of time there, but I did it. I ventured out to areas I’d never been to, just me and the city and it was awesome!
I have to say, the big apple has been good to your boy! I did a live performance of Big For Me on BET, (I’ll let you know when it’s on) and a media showcase for Entertainment Weekly, People Magazine and Sirius Satellite Radio (plus many others). It was awesome! Sirius added Big For Me, you can tune in to the Heart and Soul channel where it’s in regular rotation!
We’re making our mark on radio too! Big For Me was just added in Milwaukee (WJMR), Columbia SC (WLXC), Chattanooga (WMPZ) and Little Rock (KOKY), that’s just this week! If you live in those cities, be sure to request it!
Of course the biggest news is The Introduction is now available! If you haven’t gotten your copy, you can download it HERE
Be sure to download, rate and comment. Also, give me a shout and let me know your favorite song. Thanks to those of you who have already sent me messages about your favorites.
Also, The Introduction is one of the featured CD’s on AOL! You can check that out HERE
With the release of The Introduction, don’t forget that the Better Man EP is also available. It has some sick remixes of Better Man from some of today’s hottest producers and an acoustic version of Big For Me!
I’m almost finished with the Christmas CD and I’m so excited! This time I enlisted the help of some amazing people. Bobby Ozuna, Eric J, Frankenstorey and Charles Jones.
These guys have worked with everyone from…well if you have a favorite artist, one of these guys have probably worked with them. Charles is back lending his talent (woohoo!), plus I just heard Frankenstorey’s (Ryan Franks and Nina Storeys’) string arrangement for my song Born To Be My Everything and it’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard! Wait and see!
Ok, friends, as usual, it’s late and I have to get back in the studio and cut some vocals. Until next week…(no really, next week…promise )
It’s finally here, the release of The Introduction! Be sure to download, rate and comment. We have 6 days left to chart on iTunes so I need all of your help to make it happen. Thanks so much for spreading the word!
I’m so excited about the new release. There are 18 songs on the CD! I know how long many of you have been waiting and I wanted to give you almost 2 CD’s in one.
Tomorrow is the CD release party. If you’re in LA and you haven’t RSVP’d, you can do that here. The party is from 7-11, it’s free and thanks to KROL Vodka, there’s an open bar! Be sure to get there right at 7 because capacity is very limited.

I’m still deep in Christmas CD mode and it’s coming together! I’ll be giving you some previews along the way.
If all of this isn’t enough to keep me beyond busy, I’ve been writing a bunch for other artists, as well. Right now (believe it or not!), I’m working on a couple of country songs. Now you know that I’m an R&B guy, but I have to say, I really love the way that country songs tell a story. It’s been fun.

It’s August which means my CD drops THIS MONTH!!!! Things are so exciting. The Big For Me video is almost finished, we’re getting new adds on radio and the release party is shaping up to be out of this World!
Typically I talk about all the exciting music news in my blog, but this week I want to share a little about this project and the journey. Most of you know that before recording my CD, I was deciding if I would take sign another major label deal or go against the grain and sign with a label that would let me express my creativity the way that I heard it in my head. As you probably know, I went with the latter. The vision of Infinite Music Group is to be the Motown of yesteryear. A place where talent can truly shine and real artistry is celebrated. That is why this CD is honestly so much bigger than me. It’s about any artist that’s ever had a dream to let their voice be heard. Anyone that hates the corporate phoniness of the major labels, for every person that has turned on the radio and said, “If I have to listen to this lame song one more time, I’m going to put a bullet through my radio,” this CD and this label is for you. That’s why I hope every one of you that read this will join the street team, join the movement and spread the word. This project is about all of us! You can join the street team here: http://jdwebb.fanrising.com.
Well friends, it’s official, the CD release party is Thursday August 27th, 7 pm at The Oviatt Hotel! We have some AMAZING special guests and yours truly will be playing too. If you don’t live in the Los Angeles area, don’t worry. We are giving away a trip for two to Los Angeles for the big party. All you need to do is sign up on my street team and you’ll find all the details there. You can CLICK HERE for the Street Team info: http://jdwebb.fanrising.com.
My new EP Better Man is available now on iTunes! If you haven’t picked it up, you can get it HERE. Also, when you download, be sure to rate and comment too!
If you want to hear the full EP, (nothing wrong with a test drive), you can HERE it on Soundcloud. Be sure to say that you “dig” it.
Lastly, there’s a “demand it” feature on my myspace page and on my website, that really helps us as we’re planning the fall tour. Let your voices be heard my peeps!
Seriously, I appreciate you guys letting me be real with you and share my heart. My whole life has led up to this moment with this CD on this label. As my dream becomes reality, it opens the door for other artists with that same dream to let their voices be heard! So please, spread the word. Tell your friends to tell their friends and let’s change the musical landscape as we know it!
What a week. These four dates with Nikka Costa have been amazing! Thanks so much to all the Cali fans that came out to the shows! It’s great to be with another artist that performs everything live. No tracks, nothing canned, all live and organic. Nikka is unbelievable live and it’s been an honor to share the stage with her.
We got great feedback from fans and critics alike. So I was very happy. I’ve spent enough time on the road to know how important it is to tour with people you really like. My band and singers always make it so much fun and Nikka’s team shares that same vibe. So all in all, I’d say it rocked!
Nikka’s band was amazing. Her bass player had this big cool fro and it made me think of how bad I wanted a fro when I was a kid. I wanted one so bad that when I was ten years old I convinced my Grandmother to give me a perm. Yeah I know…but I was ten. I ended up with Shirley Temple ringlets. It was not a good look. I ended up shaving my head. It was either that or walk around singing “the sun’ll come out tomorrow”.
Many of you have asked about us spreading out to other shows across the Country and all I can say is, keep your eyes open, you never know!
So I got back to LA and headed right into the studio to start working on the Christmas CD. Now I’m all in the Christmas spirit. Christmas in June baby!
It’s been a few weeks since I mentioned it so I think it’s worth repeating. If you haven’t picked up the Big For Me single on Itunes, be sure to do that. I’d love for everyone to buy, rate and review. Here is the link: Buy Big For Me
On that note, the EP is finished and will be available on Itunes very soon so keep a lookout for that! It’s got a few songs that many of you may not have heard yet and some hot remixes! Dresden & Johnston and Bama Boyz remixes are off the chain. I can’t wait for you to hear them!!
Thanks again to all of you guys for all of your love and support. I honestly couldn’t do it without you!!
PS – Here’s a video from the first night of tour, at the Independent in San Francisco:
